My website, lmspilsbury.com has a new look!
It’s been a long journey to get here. From its origins as louise.spilsbury.com, my website has been through a lot of changes.
Why I Changed my First Website from louisespilsbury.com to lmspilsbury.com
The first change happened when I published my first book, and discovered that I wasn’t the only Louise Spilsbury author. The other Louise Spilsbury had been writing much longer than I had. As a result, Amazon and other retailers were burying my single science fiction novel among her multitude of children’s titles. So I decided to change my author name L.M. Spilsbury, and my website to lmspilsbury.com. It was a wise move. At least now, my books don’t get lost among hers. Plus, there is the mystery of being known by my initials. Is L.M. a man or a woman?

This was the background image on my old site, and is still used for the header in my new site. Also there is no longer text overlaid on the background image. Even though I still love the image, I finally acknowledged that reading over top of it gave me eyestrain. Plus, in this context, the image became a blur of colours and lines.
My Updated lmspilsbury.com Website
What’s changed in my new website is the colour scheme. Even though the image is still in the background for the page headers, it has been colourized in greys and greens. And the letters in the page names change colours in funky ways. Thanks to my website designer for choosing the new theme! I hope that readers find the new layout easier to read and a little more science-fictionny.
My ‘Newsletter Signup’ form and my ‘Contact Me’ form haven’t been working for several months, but now, I’m happy to report they’re once again fully functional. I should have fixed them sooner, but, well… the past twelve months were emotionally challenging. It’s a story for another time. What matters is, if you signed up for my newsletter in the past few months and didn’t receive an acknowledgement, please accept my deepest apologies and sign up again. You should receive an email with a link to a free story.
So, without further ado, welcome to my new website. Check it out, and let me know what you think!
